I spent ten days in Austin during the Spring of 2023. After exploring the city by bike during the day, and enjoying incredible live music each night, by the end of my stay I felt an overwhelming desire to give back my energy to this inspiring city. My good friend Justin helps operate a bike-repair shop out of a trailer at a refugee and asylum seeking community east of town, called Casa Marianella. This non-profit is a beautiful oasis for displaced immigrants. They promote self-sufficiency by providing shelter and support services, such as access to legal and medical resources, food, clothing, English classes, and free bikes and bike repair! Creating this mural over two days, using only left-over house paint and old brushes was a beautiful and fulfilling experience for me. I am happy that I recorded a time-lapse of this unplanned mural, as it shows the creative process of painting a mural without any pre-design!
